Tracey Buchanan
I am interested in people’s stories – who they are, what they think. And,
in my world, people are usually a little quirky, funny and hopeful. I see their optimism in bright colors and simple shapes. I like using different techniques to bring joy and beauty to life. My series of two-dimensional, realistic collages focuses mostly on flowers, with some portrait work. For this work, I use magazine paper and other paper torn into tiny pieces. The second line I offer includes three-dimensional collages. These are assembled primarily in boxes of different sizes, with some done on small canvases. For this type of collage, I use old photographs, found elements, antiques, and authentic ephemera. Finally, my line called “flutterbies” is a collection of whimsical watercolors. These have been sold nationwide for ten years and include over 100 designs.
