Christi Bonds

relocated from Reno, Nevada

Christi Bonds comes from a home of artists: her father an illustrator and her mother a master of mixed media with over 500 first place and best of show ribbons to her credit. Bonds pursued Art as her primary career until 1983, with fine art works in galleries and illustrations commissioned for advertising work. She specialized in portraits for album and magazine covers of musicians and singers such as B.B. King, Debbie Reynolds, Liberace, Tom Jones, Glen Campbell, Ray Charles and others, developing a reputation as the “Entertainers’ Portrait Artist.”

Taking a break from the arts in the mid-1980s, Bonds finished a Master’s Degree in Counseling (1985), a Medical Degree (1989), and a residency in Family Medicine (1992). While working as Physician and Medical Director of several Native American medical clinics in the Yosemite area of California, she pursued further training in Chinese medicine. Study of the rich cosmology of the world of Chinese medicine inspired Bonds to illustrate acupuncture points with abstract fiber arts, resulting in several one-man shows at Nevada colleges and Reno City Hall.

She currently owns Integrative Medicine of Kentucky PLLC and shows her work in the HeART of Healing Gallery (TM) associated with the medical practice.

Bonds relocated to Paducah to be closer to the center of the quilting world as well as to get back to her roots. Her great grandfather, George Washington Bonds, was born in Paducah in 1847, so she has truly “come home.”
